Happy 6th Months Jack: Rockabye Baby Review and Giveaway--Closed

Jack turns 6 months next week and in MTV My Super Sweet 16 style we are flying in Bono to perform.

Okay, not really, but we do like U2! My husband has been to every major US tour since he was old enough to go to concerts on his own. Together we've been to 3 concerts, including the most recent with Baby Jack in the belly. Our wedding song was All I Want is You/I've Got You Under My Skin (duet with Frank Sinatra) and Hubby used to have this annoying irritating hilarious habit of responding, "and I love U2," when I said, "Goodnight, I love you." (A few kicks nudges and he got the idea that he was the only one who thought that was funny.) So of course we were gifted Rockabye Baby's Lullaby Renditions of U2 for Baby Jack.

Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of U2

Rockabye Baby takes popular music like U2, Coldplay, Bob Marley and even Metallica and creates instrumental lullabies using the glockenspiel, vibraphone, mellotron and others. (Yes, I had to google those to see what they all are, click on the name for wikipedia's description.)

According to their website Rockabye Baby! "was born of the need to make children's music cool--not only for babies but for their parents too."

Review:
I really enjoy this CD. It's calm and easy to have on while Jack and I are playing. Sometimes I realize that it's U2 songs, sometimes it just nice, non-annoying, child-friendly background music. I have to admit that some of the music I listened to pre-Jack does not have the most child friendly lyrics. With this CD I never have to worry about that.

When I first heard about this series of albums I was skeptical. Why not just play the actual music for your children? And we do. But sometimes the original music is too "rocking" for what we are doing. Our Rockabye Baby CD is a calmer, quieter version. We don't use it for bed time, but we do use it for quiet play time. And even the cable guy thought it was cool.

  1. Wow, never thought that Black Sabbath would end up as lullaby music. I love Journey and "Lights". They played that at AT&T right before they fireworks show. Very interesting idea. I can't wait to hear Rush. Great stuff, Malia and happy 6 months to little Jack
